on the wing

"breathe and i'll carry you away into the velvet sky
and we'll stir the stars around
and watch them fall away into the hudson bay
and plummet out of sight and sound

the open summer breeze will sweep you through the hills
where i live in the alpine heights
below the northern lights, i spend my coldest nights
alone, awake and thinking of the weekend we were in love."

i highly recommend this album in its entirety. so good.

i do

less than one week in LA and i'm already protesting nude :)

...

just kidding. i wasn't protesting and i'm not nude. i stopped by the GLBT barbecue on sunday to have some yummy tacos (free too!). class started today, and not gonna lie "external financial reporting issues" is not exactly the most delightful class. i'm not really sure how im going to survive 18 units of business courses but, i guess this is a heads up that bloggity blog bloggin' will probably slow down a little from here. i'll try my best though! i'm going through sorority recruitment this week so it's gonna be hella crazyyy.

5 things

okay i realized that you guys know what i look like and what i like to wear and what i hate to see etc etc but you really have no idea who i am. besides from the fact that i love heels and working out and hate crocs or whatever. so here is something mildly entertaining.

Five Things You Are Addicted To
coffee - especially peet's coffee in CA, because they actually make my latte's look that pretty. i like sipping on pretty things.

tanning - even though i'm already "olive skinned," once i start baking i can't step out of the sun. it's weird, i know. i'll probably die of cancer, whatever.

sour candy - i can eat sour belts FOREVER. well, until my tongue starts hurting. one time i ate these for breakfast (i was poor okay?) and my tongue hurt after getting thru half of my bag. god i'm embarrassing.

shoe shopping - well i am addicted to all forms of shopping, but SHOE shopping? hell it's like collecting art for me.

iphone - don't hate. that's all.

Five Things That You Find Extremely Disgusting (i'll spare you the pictures)
asparagus
morbidly obese beasts (anybody catch the asher roth reference? anybody?)
skinning animals live/any other form of animal cruelty
not brushing my teeth twice a day
dirty fingernails

Five Fashion Styles You Hate
crocs, GO AWAY, forever.

these plastic retro knockoffs that try to be cool but damn i hate those neon colored sides.
kitten heels, i used to think they were cool then somebody pointed it out that they make your feet look fat and now i hate kitten heels, forever. never flattering.

i can't really think of other fashion styles i hate. fashion is subjective, everybody! except for crocs. those are universally wrong.

Five Random Things About You
i like guilty pleasure tv shows - gossip girl and those shitty vh1 dating shows. except i really only keep up avidly with gossip girl. LOUD AND PROUD.

continuing the guilty pleasure theme - i will always be a fan of britney FOREVA. <333

i have awkwardly shaped pinkies... too bad so sad no pic.

i add red pepper flakes or some form of spice to almost every dish, even on giordano's.

i'm not really a cat person vs. a dog person, i like both equally the same.

Five Little Known Things About You
i can listen to rap/hiphop probably 85% of the time. i usually don't even know the song's name, but i just like the way it sounds. how can people drive to country music? no thanks.

i used to dance, a LOT. like competitive and performance teams and everything.

i've never gone camping, and i don't intend to. unless there's bathrooms and showers.

i eat my food in a certain order, like if there's an apple, i'll bite into the apple where it's least red and eat around to get to the reddest part last. little things like that, it's weird.

i'm 1/8 japanese. the rest is taiwanese and most people don't even know that...but no one ever guesses i'd be japanese.

the end, good night.

more fall dreaming..

phillip lim, f/w 2009

motonari ono, f/w 2009

my style, regardless of season, have always revolved around showing all else leg. being 5'3 and quite petite, it's the only way i've found to make me look longer and taller. irrational or not, intend to follow the same concept for fall. nothing balances a structured sweater up top than a mini skirt and leg featuring hosiery. and i'm so excited to pull out my eggplant colored tights again, yum yum.

ho hum

it's not that i'm bored of summer, but the onset of me moving back to LA within 10 days is really starting to make me think ahead. what am i going to wear, what am i gonna get rid of, and what new things will i try this time around? i love the free flow of light summer clothes, but at the same time layering in the autumn is so much more exciting.. i know i'm gonna stick my foot in my mouth when i start complaining about the "cold" weather though...i should probably stop now, huh?

my current loves for the upcoming months, regardless of season and state--

thanks to MJ, embellishments are still in action. i kind of want to DIY my leather boots like these... knowing me though, i probably won't. i like my classic black boot the way it is. it's nice to dream though, is it not?

if only i could look this great when it rains.

and some fall outfits i'm liking, examples of shoulder baring dresses, leggy hemlines (my favorite), and biker inspiration, still a hit.

everybody wants to rule the world

i'm seriously on an 80's music kick ever since i started replaying don't you forget about me by simple minds. i turned on my pandora and it unexpectedly started playing my simple minds radio, filled with 80's goodies. i don't even particularly love 80's fashion or anything, i think it's just the connection between 80's music and my childhood. i mean, who didn't listen to that classic rock stuff your parent's turned on the car radio? (okay maybe it really is just me?)

to nurture my nostalgia--

i remember - dreaming my 1st grade afternoons away with my besties about finding that prince charming.. yeah, i don't know if i believe in such things anymore/right now. i do, however, want to see this movie.

words cannot describe my excitement for this movie. makes me wish i had a copy of the book right now...

i was the little girl who liked to run through fields of white flowers and pretend i was dorothy from wizard of oz. yeah, so cool.

i don't care what anybody says, but this movie was bomb, and still is actually.

i have my retro music station on repeat, la la la la
take on meeeeeeee....take me onnnnn....

food for thought?

what has happened to us? since when did we feel the need to chronicle every event, day, moment of our lives. are we scared of losing something?

just thought this was interesting. more interesting stuff coming up..
